When crying my new tomato plants always add about 1 tablespoon Epsom salts and one of the 13-13-13 fertilizer. You can insert both this mixture into the ground surrounding the plant, or you can put directly into the hole you dig for the tomato plant. In both cases ensure that they have two ingredients well mixed with a bit of land before you place your plant in the hole. Finally the area you should water very well

If your tomato plants are regular, then what you want to do is dig a hole and place the plant into the hole in the vertical position. Replace all land removed around the plant and water well. Nothing could be simpler.

On the other hand, in case your plants that you just bought are exceptionally tall can dig a trench that simply going straight down. In this case, remove the branches of your tomato plant and lay the plant carefully in the trenches, leaving the top 1/2 to 1 inch out of the trench. Cover the trench with soil. Your plant will grow now roots on the integer portion of the stem that is covered with soil in the trench. Since a tomato plant is basically a weed grow roots anywhere along its stem when placed in contact with the ground. Good luck and enjoy these tomato plants started late.
